ABOUT

ABOUT

nick reichenbach for school board nick reichenbach for board of education

Nick currently serves on the Board of Education after being elected to a four-year terms 2016 and 2020 election cycles. Originally, Nick was appointed to the board after a competitive round of interviews to serve the remainder of a trustee's term. Nick currently is the immediate Past President and legislative liaison. As such, he attends many Michigan Association of School Board (MASB) events and calls to action in Kent County, Lansing, and additional locations.

Nick and his wife Joan moved to Rockford, Michigan in 2004 due in large part to the strong sense of community and the well respected school system. The Reichenbach's could have moved anywhere and chose Rockford to raise their family.

Nick is a fervent supporter of locally controlled public school systems. He is a longtime volunteer in many different Rockford Public Schools initiatives and community groups. For three years he represented the High School and Freshman center on the Rockford Inter-School Advisory Council. Nick has attended nearly every school board meeting as a parent from 2012 through his appointment and subsequent election. He is a passionate supporter of many athletic teams as evidenced by countless volunteer hours to these teams and the booster clubs.

PLATFORM

Rockford Public Schools is an exceptional district with a superior group of educators led by a highly qualified and experienced group of administrators. The RPS Board of Education is well balanced with a diverse background of skills who have proven to be fiscal and financial stewards of our district's resources.  In general, Nick believes the district is well run and executes an overt strategic plan of continuous improvement.

The items that Nick would most want to address are controlled in Lansing and Washington D.C. There are several key tenets that drive his passion for the schools that you may read in the sections below: Strategic Plan, Teachers, Local Control, Broad Programs.
